Lauren earned her Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Philosophy, Summa cum Laude, from the University of Colorado, Boulder and went on to get her Master's degree in English from the same university. She has been a high school English teacher for eight years teaching regular, honors, AP, and dual enrollment courses for grades 9-12. She recently relocated from Denver, CO to Tampa, FL and is working as a writing coach, where she observes and mentors teachers in her department to create student-centered classrooms. Lauren believes that learning is a lifelong pursuit, not a singular goal.

When working with students, she seeks to provide individualized support and a learning environment that allows students to find their writing voice and bolsters their confidence to use it . She is a former speech and debate coach and a current track coach who knows that in sports, as in academics, practice makes progress (and perfect is boring).

Jaci completed her undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in Journalism and Music Performance. She later completed her teacher certification and her Masters Degree in Education at Cardinal Stritch University. She has been teaching in various capacities for the last 20 years.

Jaci has recently left the traditional classroom to pursue teaching in new ways. This includes joining the TEAM Academics Tutoring team! She is also starting up an afterschool STEAM Club (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math) for Kindergarten through Fifth Grade students. She is so excited about bringing these experiences to young learners.

Jaci’s husband is an Elementary School teacher as well! She has two daughters that keep her busy when she’s not working on her new career opportunities. She also sings in an all female a cappella group called GreenTone.

Alex is a passionate math and physics tutor who is ready to help students of all levels excel in their courses. He has taught and tutored students at the high school and college level for 5 years in courses like Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Physics I & II.  There are many practical problems in physics, engineering, and business that can be answered with math. This kind of math modelling approach to problem solving is what he enjoys most in the sciences.

Alex graduated from Baylor University with a BS in Physics and earned an MS in Applied Mathematics from University of Houston Clear Lake. He enjoys puzzles, hiking, and spending time with family.  There is always something new to explore and it's good to share those adventures with others

Originally from Fairfax, VA, Molly has been tutoring/teaching Statistics and Psychology for five years. She has two degrees in psychology: a BA from Christopher Newport University and an MS from William and Mary. In 2020, she earned a tutor certification from the College Reading and Learning Association. She enjoys working with people one-on-one and aspires to earn her Ph.D. in clinical psychology to one day practice as a therapist. She is currently based out of the Washington, D.C. area, tutoring in person and online. She loves helping students connect with the material. She has taught statistics to many math-intimidated students and has found it incredibly rewarding. She believes in helping tutees to build confidence through scaffolding and by showing them what they are capable of.

Molly's hobbies include reading, rock climbing, and crafting. She loves pop culture and will eagerly discuss your favorite shows and movies.

Justin is a retired US Air Force officer, former high school math teacher, and college mathematics professor with subject matter experience across mathematics, physics, engineering, study skills, executive function development, and college admissions He enjoys sharing his experiences with students as they work through the difficult challenges of adolescence & young adult to eventually become “CEOs” of their own lives. Justin believes that all students have brilliant brains and beautiful hearts, possess unique talents, and is grateful to simply play a small part in their life journey.

Justin continually cultivates his own intellectual curiosity through reading, including biographies, history of the American West, philosophies about healing anxiety through mindful presence, and modern fiction. His hobbies include watching football, hockey, mountain biking, hiking, yoga, and enjoying all that the Boulder, Colorado area has to offer with his wife of over 20 years (Natalie), son (Drew), and black lab pup (Emmi). Justin is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering and a PhD from the University of Michigan in Aerospace Engineering, along with two Master’s degrees.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Dylan Borst obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Orleans in 2013 before moving to the Bay Area in 2020. Previously a Preschool Teacher, Aftercare Director and Paraeducator, this is Dylan’s third year in Tamalpais High School’s SPED department. Dylan’s passion for teaching is centered around the belief that everyone deserves equal treatment and access to whatever tools they need to better themselves. “Consistency without redundancy” is Dylan’s teaching philosophy; it is the duty of the educator to continue to grow both professionally and personally. We must challenge ourselves and push ourselves to be better and more informed every day-and reflect on the results. Did you accomplish what you set out to do? How can you be more effective next time?

Outside of learning about learning, Dylan enjoys hiking or river swimming, playing music or sports and trying new restaurants or recipes.

Ruth graduated summa cum laude with a BS majoring in Physics and Mathematics, and has a PhD in Physics from Lehigh University. For over ten years, Ruth taught physics at the college level. In teaching and tutoring, Ruth approaches physics from as many perspectives as possible. Everyone learns differently, so Ruth tries to discover how students connect with a topic to form a solid foundation to build upon. She focuses on developing problem solving skills, which can be applied to many subjects, by practicing on lots of examples, both conceptual, related to real life and mathematical with numbers and equations. Math and equations are the language physics uses to describe what is happening, and Ruth carefully helps students become fluent in the meaning behind the math and the connections between the variables. 

Ruth lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, daughter (3), and son (1).  She enjoys reading, baking, and hiking.

Varuska graduated University of Arizona with a degree in Physiology and minors in Intercultural Studies and Molecular Biology. She has extensive experience in the healthcare and education industries. She enjoys writing, and has also been published in several international and national magazines, and even co-authored a book.

Varuska is passionate about tutoring and mentoring others, and believes in the power of education. She has 5+ years of experience tutoring test preparation courses, sciences, writing, English, and graduate and college coursework. She has worked with students of all ages, and especially enjoys forming close relationships with them. Varuska has moved eleven times in her life thus far, and really enjoys traveling. She loves to exercise, spend time with loved ones, and is always looking for her next adventure. This is her second year tutoring with TEAM Academics.

Wendy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Developmental Psychology and a Master of Science in Health Education from San Francisco State University.  After some time in the workforce, she returned to school to earn her General Education and Special Education Credentials from Dominican University of California.  Wendy has worked as a classroom teacher and learning center specialist. Most recently, she has worked at a middle school in Marin County. She has extensive experience supporting neurodiverse students.  She enjoys engaging with students and helping them make meaningful connections with the curriculum.  With humor and kindness, Wendy builds trust and respect with her students.

Wendy has over 20 years of experience in the education field.  Prior to teaching, Wendy worked in the healthcare and the biomedical industry.

In her free time, Wendy loves spending time with her family and friends, hiking with her dog, kayaking, and reading for pleasure.

From Pittsburgh, PA, Sara has her Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. Sara originally worked for many years as a chemist in industry before deciding to pursue her dream of teaching. She taught chemistry and physics for 12 years at Baldwin High School in Pittsburgh and is now in her first year as a teacher with Reach Cyber Charter School. Sara has a passion for learning and loves finding new ways to relate the real world to a student's study of the sciences. She especially loves tutoring for its one-on-one interactions and is always in search of that "aha" moment when her student truly understands a topic.

An avid camper, Sara has taken on a new adventure, living full time in her RV with her husband Shawn and her two puppies, Mini and Bull. Her goal is to travel the country, learning about each state's unique history and experiencing the wide variety of cultures our country has to offer. In her free time, she can usually be found sitting outside with a good book in her hands. This is her second year tutoring with TEAM Academics.

Originally from Michigan, Cheryl is a full-time Spanish Language teacher currently traveling the United States in her RV.

Cheryl received her undergraduate degree in Spanish from Eastern Michigan University and La Universidad de Guadalajara in Mexico, and her Master’s degree in teaching English as a Second Language from Wayne State University.

After teaching Spanish for 25 years in a brick and mortar classroom, Cheryl retired and decided to escape the cold weather. She currently teaches English to emerging bilingual students in a remote setting.

While teaching full-time is wonderful and exciting, Cheryl also enjoys the one-on-one atmosphere of working as a tutor and helping a student reach their full potential in Spanish or English.

Cheryl is an empty nester with two grown daughters, and enjoys kayaking, hiking, and yoga.

Adam is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Technology department at Penn State Behrend. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Gannon University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Penn State Behrend. With extensive experience in both academia and industry, Adam enjoys helping students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications and achieve their academic goals.

Outside the classroom, Adam enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors. Whether he's fishing, camping, snowmobiling or riding around town in his Jeep, he finds joy in sharing these experiences with his loved ones. He's also a passionate sports fan—especially when it comes to Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
